Asked to list her choices of the ten musical masterpieces, she states that it is an impossible task. She does list several favorites among symphonies, sonatas, and operas. "I feel reasonably sure of only one--the greatest melody of the 'folk-song' type is Suanee River, I say this without hesitation."
